Playing the field
I know that the other day I was having a love affair with my latest vintage buy, my red leather jacket, but as of today we are no longer exclusive. I'm playing the field a bit, seeing what else is out there, specifically with this fabulous gun metal grey leather coat. OOOOOOOooooooooooooo it's so special. Again the leather is smooth as a baby's bottom.
I think grey is a really under appreciated colour. It's always associated with something grim, bland and boring. On the contrary, grey can be bright, stylish and exciting. We should all definitely have some grey in our wardrobes.
Ok, so back to my most recent purchase. I love everything about it; the subtly padded shoulders, the neck fastening,
the silver piping and silver thread used to do all the finishing. Suddenly in the right light it just sparkles.
But have no fear, I've never been one for favourites and I have a lot of love to give so there's room in my heart for both of these leather lovlies. Not so much room in my wardrobe though but that has never stopped me before.

Leather love affair
This red leather jacket is on fire. If only you could feel it. Soft and smooth like butter and in perfect condition. Not a mark on it.
I love it when I find vintage pieces without a mark on them. I imagine that it was once owned by a very stylish lady who had so many wonderful jackets that she just didn't have time to wear it so set it free for me to find hahahaha.
The belt sits on the waist in just the right position sinching you in nice and snug.
The red colour is so bright and bold, a perfect foil for solemn London auntumn days but just as suitable for a bright sping day. I actually wore this yesterday when it was chucking it down and stood out very literally like a sore thumb. Loved it.

Channeling Versace...again
Yesterday whilst on a vintage prowl I pounced upon this LBD. Just look at it! Gorgeous.
The detail on the neckline is wicked.
Looking closely the gold "coins" look strikingly similar to the Versace emblem.
I can assure you this dress is not Versace, it's just mightily stylish and I can't wait to shimmy around in it.

Peace and love
Today I'm lobbying to bring back the 70s. At the end of last week I found this flower power shirt. Just looking at it makes me happy.
I love the contrast of the sharp geometric squares with the flowers and it's such an unusual colour mix.
We all need a bit more free love in our lives and that's what the 70s was all about.
Think Woodstock (ok, that was in '69 but that's virtually the 70s lol), hippies, VW camper vans and Abba and you'll feel better about Monday morning in a jiffy.

Killer colour contrast
Not much to say on this one (a shocker I know lol). It's just that I think it speaks for itself. It hangs heavily off the shoulders just perfectly and although there is a lot of fabric it's actually really flattering. This top is wearable all year round. It's great. Muah!!!

Oops! I forgot to say...
... that of course the shirt below would work wonderfully with my perfect pink lipstick hehehehe
My take on the 'Decorative Day' trend
So, this 'Decorative Day' trend for spring/summer is every where and I really like it.
Not enough to splash out on any of the designer versions of course but enough to go out and see what I could find on the vintage scene. Low and behold, I found the perfect piece.
Would you believe that this is hand made? That just makes it even more special as now I really know it is a true one off creation. Look at the hand stitching in the lining.
The list of details is endless. Look at the cuffs. I have some glistening, over the top, obscenely big diamante cufflinks to set the shirt off perfectly.
They also go perfectly with the diamante detail on the buttons. LOOK!!! (LOL. You can tell I like this shirt can't you??)
Now, I just have to think about what shoes to wear. Part of me wants to go a bit bonkers and where some bold orange heels with it hahahaha. On the other hand I think it's time to resurrect the white stilettos. Those that know me know that I have always been a devotee of the white stiletto. I don't care if you think they are trashy, Essex girl territory, I'll wear them if I want to! :-)

A Portobello piece of course. The lace over fucshia pink it just devilishly divine. The best, most amazing thing about it is the perfectly matching tie. Genius. I love it. I've tried the whole ensemble with my skinny indigo jeans and it's a winner. Just need somewhere to wear it now. I feel a trendy dinner date coming on lol. It may not look it in the photo but it's nice and fitted with perfectly placed darts at the back.

My lipstick revolution
You may have noticed that I have mentioned my new pink lipstick in my last two posts. No, it's not a vintage buy (can you imagine lol) but it's something I am LOVING right now so fits perfectly into the spirit of the blog. The colour is Zen Rose and it's from good old Mac. Vibrant colour that leaves your lips lusciously moisturised - perfect combination. I promise I'm not getting paid by Mac to say this, it's just totally true.
I have never been a lipstick wearer. In fact I was never a big proponent of make up in general until late nights and a hefty sleep deficit took hold that is. Now I am a true believer. Even so, I always paired my tinted moisturiser with a pared down tinted lip gloss or a subtle lipstick with just a hint of subtle colour. I never even looked at bold colours. Now for someone that will wear clothes of any colour, the brighter and bolder the better, I was quite shy when it came to lip colour. I just didn't feel brave enough. Then the day came when I went to Mac with my sister-in-law and a best friend. We ended up spending two hours trying every conceivable foundation, bronzer, blusher, eye shadow and mascara possible. Maybe it was the sunshine or the peer pressure (hehehe) but whatever it was, when the consultant suggested this punchy pink pantone I gave it a whirl. I haven't looked back since. I am now a lipstick evangelist and I next want to find the perfect red tint for my pout.
So, yes, I was very slow on the uptake but I got there in the end!

This week's star buy
Well, well, well, this is definitely a star buy. I found it yesterday and now I am desperate for the hot weather to come back so I can wear it. Either that or I book a flight to Capri in order to saunter along the promenade in this dress of divine stripes.
It's Italian silk and when I tried it on I was wearing my new bright pink lipstick and oh the complementary contrast was true perfection.
You can't tell from the photos but there are some very thin and precisely placed shoulder pads that ensure the dress sits just right. I also love the turn up on the sleeve and how the stripe is diagonal. Such great little touches.

Homage to Versace
This opulent bomber was an early Saturday morning Portobello find before going to meet friends for lunch. Isn't it gorgeous!!!! I wore it on Sunday with bright red sunglasses clashing with pink lips. This is one of the few times when I haven't removed the oversized shoulder pads. The billowing nature of the jacket is all part of the look.
It's so vintage Versace, Miami, rococo and over the top. Look at these original Versace shirts from the 90s. FABULOUS!When I look at my jacket I'm in love with the pattern detail and the deep indigo blue with the red and gold and all the chains. The back of the jacket is just as dramatic.
When I wore this jacket yesterday, the sky was clear blue and the sun was beaming. I felt as if I should be sunning myself at the Versace villa itself on Ocean Drive in Miami. Just imagine, perched by THAT pool with a cocktail.
BLISS.
